The DXY index was trading in a slight drop, close to its low of threeweeks in 92, while investors await the US balance sheet season and thedisclosure of various economic indicators, including consumer inflation thatcould provide an insight into the US economic recovery. In the weeklast year, the dollar depreciated around 1%, which was its worst week this year until themoment, but the currency has room for a stronger appreciation since the economyAmerican economy seems to recover more firmly.
With difficulty in registering gains, gold was traded at around USD 1730 an ounce.Last week, however, the metal recorded its first weekly gain in threeweeks.
After reaching record highs last week, US indicesstarted the week in decline, with the three main indexes falling by about 0.2%.Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo must disclose their resultsquarterly on Wednesday. Inflation rate data, export prices andimports, retail sales and industrial production data should also be on theinvestors’ radar. In Europe, the indices were also traded with caution, with the DAX 30 closingclose to its opening point in 15229, a record high reached on Friday,while the latest coronavirus news continues to worry investors,after the Federal Government of Germany announced that it would introduce legislation thatwould authorize it to impose national restrictions even without the support of regional authorities.In addition, the Dutch government said it would extend the night curfew until 28Of april. On the other hand, non-essential shops, gyms and art galleries in Englandreopened today, as some restrictive measures on account of the covid-19 wererelieved.
