Wall Street: Recovering further from Monday’s slump, US indicesAmericans extended their gains in today’s session. Scholarships must continue withhigh volatility this week due to the swing season, whileinvestors try to set aside concerns about the delta variant of the coronavirus andits rapid spread. On the corporate side, Johnson &’s earnings and revenuesJohnson beat estimates, as did Coca-Cola and Verizon. On the other hand,Netflix reported lower-than-expected earnings and new subscriptions on thirdquarter disappointed.
Europe: In Europe, the main indices were up for the second day in a row,with the pan-European STOXX 600 rebounding further from Monday ‘s sell-off ,with the optimism in the economic recovery of the pandemic leading to new purchases ofenergy stocks, travel and other cyclical stocks cheap. The change in feeling camewhen the market’s focus turned to second-quarter earnings, whilemany investors expect the ECB to repeat its dovish view at tomorrow’s meeting. OSAP technology group raised its outlook for the second time this year due toaccelerated growth, while Dutch paint company Akzo Nobel unveileda 41% main profit increase in the second quarter. ASML, one of the biggestsuppliers to semiconductor companies around the world, reported a jump insecond-quarter net profit of 38% with the strong demand for computer chips.In addition, pharmaceutical Novartis increased by a fifth the main net revenue of thesecond quarter, exceeding market expectations. The DAX 30 was too high1% to close above the 15,400 level
