Equities on major stock markets in the United States were mostly in the green at the opening bell on Tuesday as investors mainly focused on the vaccination against the coronavirus and economic data reports. US President Joe Biden claimed the country is on track to surpass a total of 100 million administered vaccine doses in the next 10 days.
On the economic front, data on the country’s industrial production and retail sales both failed to meet expectations, dropping 2,2% and 3% on a monthly basis, respectively.
The Dow Jones slid 0.05% to start the session with modest losses, while the S&P 500 added 0.17% to reach another record high at the open. The Nasdaq 100 grew 0.58% as Pinduoduo jumped 4.07% concurrently. The euro decreased by 0.07% to go for $1.19208 at 9:28 am ET.
