Johnson looks to secure vaccines from India to address UK shortage – report

United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s ally and his former chief of staff, Edward Lister, has traveled to India in an attempt to secure additional doses of AstraZeneca’s coronavirus vaccine as the country faces a shortage, Financial Times reported on Monday citing sources familiar with the Downing Street’s plans.

However, the Indian government is allegedly “stalling” the talks as the country’s MPs voiced their concerns over exporting COVID-19 vaccines. Lister is set to visit the Serum Institute later this week, seeking to conclude the deal, according to sources.

Previously, United Kingdom’s Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government Robert Jenrick stressed the country could see some “issues” related to the vaccine supply in the coming weeks
